What is EPG-Logical Invest?
EPG-Logical Invest (EPG-LI) implements the investment strategies developed by the Logical Invest Team (LI, https://logical-invest.com). The Estate Planners Group, LLC, is a registered investment advisory firm headquartered in Bucks County, PA responsible for implementing the Logical Invest strategies for individuals, institutions and investment advisers.
Why did you start EPG-LI?
Through EPG’s long standing relationship with Logical Invest we learned of a need expressed by both investors and advisers who were not equipped, too busy or unable to consistently follow Logical Invests rules-based investment process. EPG-LI’s mission is to implement LI’s classic strategies as outlined while seeking to minimize trading costs and provide value to individual clients, institutions and advisers.
What makes EPG-LI different?
We seamlessly implement Logical Invests’ rules based strategies. Logical Invests’ process begins conducting and applying well-proven research in their strategies. They leverage the latest advanced academic and statistical models available and adapt them to real-world market trading and investment portfolio management. The process is adaptive allowing their strategies to capture changes in investment environments and market regimes. While performance backtests might give insight to what has worked in the past they may not reflect current or future economic environments. Logical Invest seeks to solve that challenge by building in well-researched market anomalies plus adaptive algorithms to move with the changing market environments.
Who should invest with EPG-LI?
Investors with a three to five year or longer time horizon seeking affordable and transparent implementation of Logical-Invests’ strategies are ideally suited for EPG-LI’s services. If you worry about the markets on a daily basis, constantly check your account balance, or try to gain an “edge” by timing the latest trends or investing in the newest fad, we probably aren’t for you.
What investment strategies are available through EPG-Logical Invest?

What are EPG-LIs investment minimums?
Minimum investment for LI’s classic strategies is $50,000. That can be divided between two strategies with a minimum of $25,000 in each strategy. Specialized strategy minimums are $200,000 per strategy
How do I set up an account and what do you do with my funds?
Who is eligible to become an EPG-Logical Invest client?
To enroll in EPG-Logical Invest, you must be 18 years old or more and hold US citizenship. All accounts will be opened and held at Interactive Brokers.
Can international clients open an EPG-Logical Invest account?
Not at this time.
What types of accounts does EPG-Logical Invest currently support?
EPG-Logical Invest currently supports individual, joint and trust accounts. We also support Traditional IRAs, Roth IRAs and Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) IRAs, IRA transfers, and 401(k) rollovers.
Where is my money held with EPG-Logical Invest?
Your assets are held in a brokerage account in your name at Interactive Brokers (IB), the broker-dealer we have chosen. We can never, and will never, have access to your funds beyond trading per the strategies selected and deducting management fees per our management agreement. Interactive Brokers is rated the Best Online Broker for the fourth consecutive year by Barron’s 2015. Interactive Brokers is also the largest U.S. online brokerage firm by number of daily average revenue trades. We don’t receive any kickbacks or fees from Interactive Brokers. We simply believe they are the best, lowest cost provider for our clients.
Can I trade within my own account at another brokerage firm?
EPG-Logical Invest’s service is only available with accounts opened at Interactive Brokers (IB). Other brokers charge flat fees per trade, which can extremely expensive for small accounts. We believe that these fees need to go the way of the dinosaur. Interactive Brokers will also never sell their order flow to “dark pools” for high frequency trading firms to exploit. Account set up with Interactive Brokers is simple and can be done online 24 hours a day.
Can I transfer my existing IRA to an EPG-Logical Invest Account?
Yes. You will answer a few questions in our application portal and receive instructions to complete your transfer. It normally takes 5-10 business days to fund a new account with and an existing IRA.
Can I rollover my 401(k), 403(b) or similar plan into EPG-Logical Invest?
Yes. Kindly follow the instructions in the application portal. You will have to complete some additional steps to facilitate a transfer.
Can I transfer an existing brokerage account to EPG-Logical Invest?
Yes. Kindly follow the instructions in the application portal.
I would like to fund an account with assets that are somewhat unique, will you sell them for me?
No, we accept cash transfers only. Please have positions liquidated and fund your EPG-LI account at Interactive Brokers via a cash transfer.
Will you transition my old assets into my new EPG-Logical Invest account tax efficiently?
For retirement accounts, transitioning your portfolio into EPG-Logical Invest does not generate tax consequences, ever. For taxable accounts, you are responsible for any taxes incurred (if any) when we sell your positions to transition into an EPG-Logical Invest portfolio. If your old account owns ETFs that we would invest in, we will utilize those ETFs in your new EPG-LI portfolio and you would not incur a tax liability.
Is my information secure?
Absolutely, your account and personal information is encrypted with 512 SSL encryption and stored across different servers in secure facilities. We only retain the information required by law and nothing more. We never sell your information, ever.
How do you use my information?
We only use your information in two ways: to comply with government regulations and provide the optimal financial portfolio to grow your wealth. We never share your information with any third parties.
Can I close my account anytime?
Yes, you can contact Interactive Brokers and have EPG-LI removed as the advisor on your account.
How do I fund my account?
How do I fund my account and how long will it take?
You can fund your account via wire, ACH transfer, or check. Processing times vary and EPG-LI does not have a hand in the transfer process. Generally speaking, the account opening and funding process takes approximately 1-2 weeks.
When will you start trading my account?
If your account opens and is funded within the first 15 calendar days of the month it will be invested. Accounts open and funded after the 15th will trade on or about the first trading day of the following month.
How do I deposit additional funds into my account? Can I turn on auto-deposit?
Automatic deposit can be added by visiting the IB portal. Additional funds are processed by IB and deposited into your trading account. Once received, those funds will join our regular trading schedule.
Can I withdraw part or all of my funds? Is there any fee involved?
Withdrawals are permitted at any time. Contact Interactive Brokers directly for fund withdrawals. You are permitted one free withdrawal request every 30 days. If you must make an additional withdrawal within the 30 day window, your account will be charged a small fee by Interactive Brokers. Should your withdrawals take your balance below the $50,000 minimum requirement EPG-LI reserves the right to discontinue management of your account.
How do I add or delete a linked checking account?
You will login to Interactive Brokers to add / remove banking information.
Why is there uninvested cash in my account?
Generally, there will be a small amount of uninvested cash in your EPG-Logical Invest account for the following reasons: We purchase only whole shares of ETFs for you. This leaves some cash uninvested until there is enough to buy more whole shares according to your plan.
Is my money insured?
Interactive Brokers provides brokerage services to all EPG-Logical Invest customers. Interactive Brokers is a member of the Securities Investor Protection Corp (SIPC), which means that the securities in your account are protected up to $500,000. For details, please see www.sipc.org. However, unlike FDIC insurance for banks, SIPC does not protect against loss of principal due to movements in the market value of your securities.
What are your fees?
How much does EPG-Logical Invest cost?
- Management fees: We charge a graduated management fee as follows:
- 0.99% per year (99 basis points) on managed assets up to $250,000
- 0.89% per year (89 basis points) on managed assets $250,001 to $500,000
- 0.79% per year (79 basis points) on managed assets $500,001 to $1million
- Accounts over $1million are assessed a flat 0.75% (75 basis points)
- Transaction fees: You will pay Interactive Brokers trading fees which are among the lowest in the industry. Since client trades are aggregated (block trades) clients will receive the most favorable pricing available and in proportion to the shares traded in your account.
Do I have to pay an IRA custody fee?
Yes, Interactive Brokers charges $30/year for each IRA account to cover their administrative costs for tax accounting and reporting. EPG-LI does not receive any part of that or any other fee from Interactive Brokers.
Where can I see my fees being deducted?
You can login to your account at Interactive Brokers 24 hours a day to check your balance and transaction history. If you have any questions, you can always email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are there closing fees if I choose to close my EPG-Logical Invest account?
No. There are no fees associated with closing your EPG-Logical Invest account. The only exception is if you want to transfer your current EPG-Logical Invest portfolio over to another brokerage (as opposed to liquidating it to your linked bank account). In that instance, Interactive Brokers charges a $100 fee to transfer the funds. We do not receive any portion of this fee.
What happens to dividends?
Dividend payments will accumulate as cash in your portfolio. We use that cash to pay our fees and will invest excess cash according to your asset allocation guidelines at the beginning of the month.
How do you design my plan?
How does the online questionnaire determine my plan?
The online questionnaire is designed to assess your risk tolerance (low to high) your time horizons, liquidity, and preference for downside protection (on or off).
Can I customize any allocation for my own preferences?
Yes, to a point. The online process allows you to select up to two of the available strategies based on your risk assessment. For accounts in excess of $250,000 EPG can provide further customization. Contact us at email@example.com to discuss.
Can I replace any of the ETFs EPG-Logical Invest recommends?
No. The ETFs selected are those the Logical Invest team believes provides the best exposure in each corresponding investment category at the time selected. ETF selections can change over time and those changes will be made by the EPG-LI team and communicated to clients when they happen.
How often do you rebalance my portfolio?
Most portfolios are rebalanced monthly with the exception of the Maximum Yield strategy which trades twice a month.
Can I change my plan anytime?
Yes, you can change your allocation between strategies by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org at least 5 trading days in advance of the start of a month. When you change your plan, the change will take effect the following month during the monthly trading cycle. To change your strategy selection submit an online request to email@example.com at least 5 days before the start of the next month. We will respond to verify your request and discuss risk profile issues if necessary.
What kind of reporting and statements will I receive?
You can access your account at anytime via your Interactive Brokers login access. In addition you will receive monthly statements via email from Interactive Brokers as well as a quarterly paper statement from Interactive Brokers if selected during the account opening process.
